Arvika lies at the inner end of Glafsfjorden, and Visit Värmland calls its harbour Sweden's innermost. The water is about a 15-minute walk from the house, and guests have access to a shared beach.

Sixteen species, one permit
Glafsfjorden holds pike, perch, pikeperch, whitefish, salmon trout, burbot and ten other species. Fishing needs a permit from the local fishing association, sold at Arvika's tourist information centre, Arvika Fiskecenter on Storgatan, Ingestrands Camping and online at ifiske.se. Children under 16 fish free, and fishing in Kyrkviken in town is free for everyone.
Arvika Adventures takes guests out on Glafsfjorden, Nysockensjön and Ränken, including trolling over deeper water.

Ice fishing · Isfiske
A hole in the ice for perch and pike
When the ice is thick enough, Swedes fish through it with an ice auger and a short jigging rod. Perch and pike are the usual catch.
The tourist centre in Arvika ([email protected], 0570-817 90) has current ice conditions and permits.
Go on the ice only when local reports confirm it is safe.
